Creep of High-Strength Steel Coated with Plasma Sprayed Self-Fluxing Alloy

This article compares the creep testing behavior of AISI 4340 high-strength steel in as-received and coated conditions. The coating material used was a NiCrBSi self-fluxing alloy. microstructural characterization carried out using optical scanning electron microscopy. tests were conducted at temperature 550 °C with loads 200, 250, 300 MPa. microstructure analysis deposited layer revealed some inclusions, very low porosity, good adhesion to substrate. results indicated decrease time rupture under 250 MPa for steel. At load 200 MPa, presented longer times higher yield strength, demonstrating an improvement over uncoated these test condition. fracture surface inspection showed failure by ductile both samples, without coating.
